What
software do you use?
I use Avid Media Composer 5.5 for editing the raw footage, and for any graphics I will use a combination of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and stock footage. For music I use my Korg Triton Studio and Pro Tools for the finishing touch. Other software that I use includes: Celtx, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premeire, and Anime Studio Pro.
What hardware do you use?
Recently I purchased a Panasonic AGHMC40 which I now use for all of
my films. I use a Manfrotto 028B
Tripod with a 501HDV Pro Video Head and I use a CobraCrane to take care
of all my moving shots. For sound
I use a Rode NTG-2 Condenser Shotgun Microphone
to capture sound for my films, either in post-production or production.
Usually I attach these mics to my K-Tek KE-110CC Avalon Series Aluminum
Boompole which has an internal coiled XLR cable, connecting hem to a
XLR adapter which attaches to the camera. As for computers I have
one Sony VAIO laptop, and a Windows 7 Desktop which I use primarily for
all video work.
What
is your advice for making a good film?
Well I don't know everything about filmmaking, but still have some
useful tips:
#1 Write a script. There's only one con to writing a script and that is
it takes time. Otherwise it's just a bundle of pros which I could sit
here all day writing about.
#2 Get it done. I have had a number of projects that have dragged on
and on because I didn't have a deadline. Set a weekend, shoot what you
need to shoot and then be done with it.
#3 Be prepared. Overall just try to be ready for the shoot with props,
cameras, tripods, schedules, scripts, locations, cast, and crew.
Good Luck!
Do you have a youtube account?
Yes I do, I am under the name of DoctorEntertainment.
Vimeo? Also DoctorEntertainment.
How
do you come up with your film ideas?
Well I wish I could answer this with a simple step by step process
but unfortunately I can't. It's simply a matter of exposure and
creativity. Expose yourself to different ideas, different movies,
books, you name it. Also keep an open mind and remember that coming up
with film ideas is not for everyone. Some people just can't do it.
Instead you can also try basing your films off of true stories, short
stories, books, what have you. Sometimes even watching the news can
help you. I usually come up with my films when I'm least expecting it,
although on occasion I will force out an idea. Sometimes talking with
different people and asking them about their ideas helps too.
